What can a thief with my phone actually do?

Less than you'd fear, and less every release. They can chat with me and read what I'd tell you — which is why lockdown exists and is one word. What they cannot do, even unlocked: erase your life or export it if you've set a recovery phrase (those demand the phrase, not just the phone), or spend money (purchases always confirm, and in lockdown nothing moves at all).

This is the honest shape of it: your phone number is how I know you, so treat the number like a key. Set a recovery phrase the day you start — it's the difference between a stolen phone being an errand and being an emergency.
